FOLKLORE & MAGICK: Agrimony is a multipurpose herb when used for magic. It’s very protective and can guard against spells, spirits, and negative energy or intruders. It’s associated with sleep and can ward off bad dreams and nightmares.

THERAPEUTIC PROPERTIES: Agrimony is an herb full of astringent tannins which makes it an excellent tonic for supporting the liver and kidneys. It makes a great wash for irritated and itchy skin and can be used in skin care for acne and pimples. However, it can make skin sensitive to sunlight when used externally, so use sunscreen.

MAGICKAL USES: Sprinkle a line across your doorways so that no one brings in attached spirits or negative energy. Burning Agrimony can ward off bad vibes and energy in your home or spaces. Bury some on the corners of your property to create long term protection of your home. Place a spoon full of Agrimony and Lavender in a sachet and place it under your pillow for peaceful sleep and dreams.

THERAPEUTIC USES: A tea made from Agrimony right before bed can encourage restful sleep. Use it to make a bitter tincture to support the liver, kidneys, and sleep. Make an Agrimony glycerite to use in skin care recipes and formulations such a face serums or body lotions. A tea can be made to soothe itchy and rashy skin.

IDEAS FOR USING AGRIMONY: It’s known to help a person relax and go with the flow. It can help break a hex, curse, or negative energy sent your way. My favorite way to work with Agrimony is to create an oxymel with vinegar and honey. I use the oxymel for both its therapeutic and magical properties. And it’s super tasty! Add it to warm water or milk/s, chamomile tea, or even some club soda for a refreshing non alcoholic drink.
